Finding Noel

Alright quick book review since I read it in a day (not something that happens often with me)

Finding Noel is by Richard Paul Evans, it has an interesting storyline. I guessed at many of the outcomes and there was a weird sort of foreshadowing with portions of the chapters--maybe I'm just slow, it took me a few chapters to catch on to the ordering of events.

I wonder a little at Evans and his parental input. Each of the fathers mentioned in the story were... without real presence. Many of them lacked character. (In case you wondered there were 5 fathers).

At the very beginning the central character is close to the edge, contemplating suicide. I wonder--how close are we each day to people who no longer wish to live? What difference have we made in their lives? Or have we simply brushed by without leaving an impression.

240 DL

Volvo is sold. I'm sure many of you were under the misguided impression that I'd gotten rid of it already, but not so.... Today I signed over the title and got $550.

*sigh*

Violet VanderBunny’s MisAdventure

(or When Violet goes to the vet)

Violet needed to get spayed. There are two reasons for this,1- if they are not reproducing, female rabbits have a high likelihood of getting cancer and 2- fixed rabbits are supposed to be nicer. Violet has been a sweetheart for most of her stay with me in the past 8 months, however, last week she bit me three times, my brother’s friend once and Mom once (drew blood there). NOT COOL!

So Monday morning Violet and I packed up and got into the car, drove to the Vet and checked in. She’s so small the vet had me come back the first time I attempted to bring her in and in fact I think the vet was still a little wary when I had her there this time. She’s bigger (definitely), but she’s still small and all her organs are small too.

I gave them approval to do blood work, so that they could check her liver and kidney functions, but because she’s so small, they were unable to do that. However, she went through the actual surgery just fine. The doctor called me right afterwards and uh… I have to tell you I wasn’t nervous about the surgery until I got that phone call, the vet’s voice was just this side of “comforting” 'because we lost your rabbit…' just me overactive imagination it was….

Well, they sent us home and told me that if she didn’t eat and drink that day to call before they closed and bring her back by to give her some fluids. Of course bunny did not want to cooperate! I had to take her back :-( So I went back with her and she got another shot…. Did I mention they wanted me to administer pain meds? Via a needle of course… which I didn’t do last night (should have asked soldier medic--brother to do it), and I didn’t do this morning, mom and dad did… thankfully… poor bunny!

I’m sure she hates my guts right now and will again in 9 days when she gets her staples removed… but hopefully she will be a happier bunny for it.

Some time in the month of April or May Violet will have a new larger hutch! I’m excited (because I should be out of the house then!).
