My boss sent this to us... and here I tell a tale of woe...

One day some 5 years ago I was working in the library and I happened upon a bag of books to check in... they had cat urine on them.... After many disgusting faces and much washing of hands I excitedly got AWAY from those nasty books. Ew Gross!

The End!

By Zeke's knee that's a horrid tale of woe! Nice to see an Unshelved strip, though (I keep forgetting it exists...)

Heh, who is Zeke?

Zeke's just a name I invoke instead of the pagan gods of my childhood (I could've said "Loki's lying lips..." or "Odin's only eye..." Wait, I wasn't a viking as a child. Never mind. I have no idea who Zeke is. I think, like Slacker, Moon Jester, Marcus Tyrrell, et al., Zeke is another one of my masks).

Oh, and here I thought he was just a good name to rhyme with "Knee"
;-)

Some books stink from the publisher: whether it's the ink or the paper or the glue in the binding, some new books smell disgusting. I've actually not purchased books based on how they smelled (don't bother telling me how weird I am ;-)

I'm not sure if they were or not Winter, it's possible...

Slacker, I work in tech services, I've not really noticed books smelling badly straight out of the box.

I can tell you that since that incident I've been very wary of books and sometimes I think I smell urine when really it's just heavily (and I do mean HEAVILY) scented with cigarette smoke. There are other smells with the smoky...

I've worked in both bookstores and libraries, and some books do stink, straight from the box (at least to my nose... :-)
